How to Reduce Holiday Stress

Creating a Joyful Holiday Season for me!

Setting intention to live more from your heart is the formula for living the life you want. A good first step is to sort through all the “shoulds, coulds, and woulds” that can get in the way of hearing what your heart wants you to know:

  • What matters most to you during the holidays?

  • What’s important to you?

  • What motivates you to do what you do?

This year will be different because of the pandemic.   We want to keep our loved ones safe and do our part in not spreading the disease.  We won’t be going to as many holiday gatherings so our lives may be less hectic this holiday but we may also feel lonelier.   We will have to get creative.

  • In what ways can we connect to our friends and family to celebrate the holidays even if we are not physically together?

If you could have the ideal holiday season, what would it be like?  What would you do?  In what ways could you enjoy it?  Use Young Living’s Clarity, Envision or Transformation essential oil blends and do the Quick Stress Technique.  After a couple of minutes of breathing and enjoy the oil, write down your vision of the holidays:

Make a list of the current obligations and activities you have traditionally done.

Which ones will not help you create your enjoyable holiday season?  Are there ones you can modify to reduce your obligation overload?  For example, send out New Year’s letters in January rather than December cards, don’t make cookies, etc.  Cross the ones you can off your list.  Modify ones that you can on your list.  Commit to this.

In what ways can you celebrate the holidays without physically gathering?  How can you make it fun?

-        I met a woman in Vietnam a few years ago and we have stayed connected via Facebook.  We decided to Zoom over the holidays and share each other’s holiday traditions.  I am really looking forward to learning how they celebrate the holidays in Vietnam.

-        You traditionally have a holiday meal with family or friends.   What if we did sort of a progressive dinner?   Everyone makes a dish and packages it up to share.  We drop it off on their steps or meet up outside with masks on to exchange dishes.  We set up our table in our own home and connect over dinner via the internet to enjoy the meal together & sing Christmas carols.

What can you come up with to enjoy this strange holiday season?  Share it!

Select an essential oil.  Visualize how your holiday will be different this year.  Just Breathe & Enjoy.
